If you’re like many agents, you may wonder how you can keep motivated to succeed and reach your goals. How can you tell if you’re uninspired? Do you seem consumed by negative emotions? A "why" is the reason someone does what they do. When an agent has a "why," they not only feel motivated, but also full of positive energy. They feel empowered to tackle the challenges that arise and see them as an opportunity to find and apply innovative solutions.

Not only that, they feel they’re living up to their full potential every day and love what they do because they can see the difference they’re making.

One of the easiest ways to find your "why" is to answer these five simple questions:

• Why am I in this business?
• What do I like about what I do?
• When do I feel fulfilled or happiest?
• When do I feel that I am maximizing my full potential?
• What does my life look like in a year? In five years?

These questions will help you assess your priorities and figure out what motivates you. When your priorities are in order, you’ll be able to define your purpose and connect your daily activities to help you achieve you goals. In the end, this will make you happier in your work and in your life overall.

5 Tips to Get Inspired
When you know your "why," you can reconnect with your inspiration whenever you feel your motivation beginning to wane. Here are some suggestions to help get back on track:

1. Visualize. Visualize the life you want to lead. When you visualize the life you want to lead, you become inspired to achieve it. Visualizing will help you continue taking steps toward making your vision a reality.

2. Get inspired by others. What do the most inspirational stories have in common? They feature people who persevered in the face of adversity. Take a moment to think of a story that inspires you, whether from the news, a book or a movie. Why was it inspirational? Your answer may help you find your "why."

3. Seek inspiration in your struggles. Everyone has faced setbacks in life, and you are no different. Look back at the struggles and setbacks you’ve overcome to find inspiration. Remembering what you’ve overcome can give you perspective and reconnect you with your "why."

4. Connect with other real estate professionals. Networking with other professionals is not only motivating; it can also help you remember why you joined the business in the first place. Connecting to your reasons for becoming an agent can help you remember your purpose, as well.

5. Disconnect to recharge. Sometimes the only way to reconnect with ones internal voice is to turn off the gadgets for an hour and get moving outside. Exercise pumps blood to the brain and encourages it to think of creative solutions to current challenges. Plus, the combination of fresh air and nature often helps to boost motivation and recharge our batteries. If you are struggling to come up with a "why," stepping out may help you discover it.

Many upper-middle class households with young children are caught between an inability to afford childcare and an inability to sustain on one less income with a stay-at-home parent-a predicament that has a driving force on their housing decisions.

According to the Zillow Housing Aspirations Report (ZHAR), many upper-middle class households choose to put down roots close to relatives who can provide childcare, even more so than low-income households. Roughly one-quarter of upper-middle class household members surveyed for the report, as well, cite "proximity to family" as an influencer on their choice about where to live.

Low-income households do, however, struggle with childcare costs in pricey housing markets, such as San Francisco, Calif. Thirty-three percent of those surveyed overall depend on relatives for childcare.

Most households with young children are being pinched by a combination of higher housing costs and standstill income growth.

"Housing costs and childcare are among the two largest budget items for working families, costing as much $43,000 a year in urban areas and over $34,000 a year in the suburbs," says Dr. Svenja Gudell, chief economist at Zillow. "While many Americans are tied to the places they live for a variety of personal and financial reasons, its necessary for some households to live near family in order to make ends meet.

Sometimes extended family might move together to provide childcare, or grandparents might even follow their children when they move to a new city to help care for their grandkids."

Get your gardening gloves on.

A little color goes a long way for a bed of plants and flowers. Plant some bright flowers along your patio or consider growing functional, edible plants that look and taste great. Gardening is a fun summer project that can add beauty to your home’s exterior lounging areas. If gardening isn’t your thing, fresh-cut flowers in a vase as a centerpiece can do the trick.

Ready the deck and home exterior.

Funguses on the deck aren’t appealing, nor are mildew stains, dirt or weather-beaten patches. Pressure wash your deck then re-stain it with a matching color and finish, and apply a wood preservative to help prevent water damage and discoloration. In addition, it might be time to give dull shutters and doors a fresh coat of paint to prevent them from looking washed out.

Remove mold and mildew.

Mold and mildew can form on the exterior siding and trim of your home, as well as on patio furniture, flower pots and swimming pools. It’s important to regularly clean the outside of your house as well as your outdoor furniture and accessories that may have been stored away all winter. Clean up any loose items and use a disinfecting wipe on hard surfaces like counter tops, door handles and light switches.

When it comes to summer entertaining, all you need is a quick refresh before you kick back with loved ones in a clean, relaxing space.
